At last night’s 2012 Oscars, veteran red-carpet stunners and novice knockouts impressed us with their bold, yet demure fashion choices. We found that the majority of our favorite looks shared similar palettes of snow white, crimson red and jet-black. While Jennifer Chastain dazzled in an intricately gold embroidered Alexander McQueen gown in black chiffon, Gwyneth Paltrow, wearing our favorite look of the evening, commanded attention in an ethereal alabaster gown and cape from Tom Ford’s fall 2012 collection. With pulled back hair, minimal jewelry and the clean, vertical lines of her gown, Paltrow epitomized the time honored belief that less is more and for this reason, she is guaranteed to be at the top of countless Best Dressed lists. Our favorite lady in red was Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams. Although she did not take home the Oscar, Williams won a Best Dresses nod from us for her her peplum detailed, candy apple red Louis Vuitton frock. Other of our favs were Angelina Jolie in black velvet Versace Atelier, Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture, Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood, Ellie Kemper in Armani Prive, Meryl Streep in Lanvin and Mila Jovovich in Elie Saab. Now that you know our Best Dressed picks, what are yours?
